Other Events
During the last years the Finlandia Society of
Calgary (FSoC) has organized dozens of different events. The following is a
collection of the most popular once-a-year events. In addition to the ones
listed here, the FSoC also organizes some yearly events such as Library Evenings
in co-operation with the other Scandinavian Societies as well as movie nights.
Please see the Events Calendar for a list of forthcoming
events.
| Casino Nights: | The FSoC receives casino funding from
the Alberta Gaming and Liquor Commission. Two-day casinos are held once
every 18 months at Casino Calgary at the crossing of 16th Avenue and
Barlow Trail N.E.. Volunteers from the members of the FSoC (25 for each
day) are needed to help with the casino. In each day there will be a day
and an evening shift. Volunteers working on two days need to fill the same
shift on both days. If you would like to help, please contact any of the
board members at least 2-3 months before the next Casino Day to fill out
the volunteer application form. In addition to the awesome experience,
volunteers working at the Casino Days will receive free meals!
